Central Florida

Central Florida, as the name implies, comprises the central part of the state, including the Tampa Bay and Orlando area.

With the exception of hill terrain in southern Lake County, Hernando County, Pasco County and Polk County, Central Florida is mostly flatland with significant amounts of open space and over 1,500 lakes and ponds. There is a mixture of wetlands, cypress, oak, maple and pine forests, pastures, prairies and coastline.

Agriculture has occupied a large portion of Central Florida’s economy, with winter strawberries, citrus, timber, vegetables and aquaculture all making major contributions. Tourism is also a large contributor to Central Florida’s economy, with Disney World, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens and Legoland.

Golfers know that Central Florida provides some of the most affordable golf opportunities in the country. Golfers of all skill levels will have no problem finding courses to suit their game. With 39 public-access courses, it’s easy for everyone to find a course suitable to their abilities.
